Rene Descartes said, “I think therefore I am.” I do not like to tell you what to think, but rather, I like to guide you into figuring out what could help you, through your own thought processes. My clients are the experts on their lives, and I am the tour guide.
Grief is often underestimated in the pain that can be felt. Having never grown up with my real parents, living with a foster family for a short time, never knowing what my mom looked like, and the death of my dad when I was in college, I have learned that grief takes many different forms, many of which are unexpected. Not everyone experiences loss the same, and that’s ok.
My experience involves providing therapy for people of all ages struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, parenting, and relationship difficulties like divorce or break ups. While I prefer to customize various therapy treatments to each person, my clients have most often used exposure therapy, CBT, relaxation methods, and ACT treatments. I prefer to let my clients choose what they want to focus on first and which therapy treatments they think will help them the most.
I believe that the most motivation and self-learning comes from within yourself rather than me telling you what to do.
A few fun things to throw in are that I presented research on caffeine and anxiety sensitivity at the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) research conference in Denver, CO in 2022, after which I had this study published in the scientific peer reviewed journal, Substance Use and Misuse. I spent about 5 years writing blogs for lawyers across the United States, I love to write (mostly philosophy), I have written and directed independent films since 4th grade, and I enjoy doing surrealist photography and oil painting. I’m also fascinated by dreams, nightmares, and lucid dreams.
For anyone unsure about whether therapy is worth it, I believe almost anyone can become their best self, if they allow it to. I have personally seen multiple clients accomplish this through therapy.
