Grief Recovery Center is a private mental health counseling practice in Houston, serving the community since 2015. Our licensed providers offer compassionate, evidence-based care, with a focus on making mental health support approachable and effective.
Our office is located at 2000 North Loop West, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77018.

We also offer secure virtual counseling for clients throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan.

Clients can also manage appointments through the secure client portal.
We see clients by appointment only:  

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
We are closed on most federal holidays.

If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, we can easily switch you to another provider.
Yes. Finding the right fit is important, and it’s normal for that to take more than one try.

If you’re not comfortable, we can help you switch to another provider with no additional cost.
Your first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brought you in.

You’ll talk through your current concerns, relevant history, and what you’d like to work on. Your therapist will explain their approach and answer any questions you have.

There’s no pressure to share everything right away.

We treat a wide range of concerns, including grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship conflict, stress, ADHD, self-esteem, substance use, life transitions, and more.
Yes. We work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
The Grief Recovery Program is a structured, seven-week process designed to help you work through loss in a practical and guided way.

It is completed one-on-one with a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and focuses on resolving unfinished emotional experiences related to loss.

Yes. We offer group counseling and support groups for grief and divorce.

Sessions are $55 and typically last 75 minutes. Insurance may be accepted depending on the group.
Yes. Our psychological testing services are designed to provide clear, actionable answers.

Yes. Couples counseling provides a structured space to address conflict and improve communication.

Sessions are available in person or virtually, with private pay rates starting at $190.
Yes. We offer Spanish-speaking therapy. Contact our office to confirm availability.
Yes. We provide affirming, inclusive care that respects your identity, pronouns, and lived experience.
Yes. In addition to English and Spanish, we also offer therapy services in Arabic and Farsi.

Insurance & Coverage

Yes. We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare (Optum), and we also accept many EAP plans.

Our team will verify your benefits directly with your insurance provider and explain your coverage, co-pay, and deductible before your first session.

Your cost depends on your insurance plan and may include a co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance.

We can provide a personalized estimate before your first session so you know exactly what to expect.
We provide a superbill that you can submit for potential reimbursement.

Yes. HSA and FSA cards can be used for The Grief Recovery Program.

Payment & Fees

As of April 2026, our private pay rates are as follows:

Individual therapy is $170, couples or family therapy is $190, and group sessions are $55.

Licensed Psychologists (LP) and Licensed Psychological Associates (LPA) charge $200 for individual sessions and $225 for couples or family sessions.

Psychological testing starts at $1,200.
The program is $150 per session over 7 weeks, $975 in two payments, or $900 if paid upfront.
Yes. We offer financing through CareCredit for qualifying services.
We do not offer sliding scale pricing. Financing may be available for services over $500.
Payment is due at the time of service. Our billing team processes payment after your session.

Virtual Counseling

Yes. We offer secure phone and video sessions with licensed providers.

Yes. Online therapy follows the same clinical standards as in-person sessions and is effective for many clients.

Clients who can stay engaged, attend consistently, and have a private space for sessions.
Not appropriate for emergencies or individuals at risk. Seek immediate medical care if needed.
Sessions are conducted through SimplePractice and can be accessed via phone, tablet, or computer.

The Therapy Process

We use CBT, DBT, EMDR, EFT, psychoanalytic therapy, and solution-focused therapy, tailored to your needs.
Some clients see progress in 6 to 8 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support.
Progress may include improved mood, stronger relationships, and better coping skills.
Yes. We coordinate with your physician when appropriate.
All providers are licensed and hold at least a Master’s degree, including LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LP, and LPA-IPA.

Continue applying what you’ve learned and schedule follow-up sessions as needed.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, then adjust frequency based on progress.

Privacy, Records & Security

Yes. Information is only shared with your permission, except where required by law.
Yes. All sessions are HIPAA-compliant and secure.

No. Recording is not allowed without written consent from all parties.

Appointments & Policies

Appointments canceled within 24 hours or missed are charged the full session fee.
Yes. You can use the client portal or contact our intake team.
No. All sessions are by appointment only.

Emergencies & Safety

If you are in crisis, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911. Therapy can resume once you are stable.
