Are you struggling with grief or unresolved trauma? Are you struggling with alcohol or other substance use? Having difficulty managing depression or anxiety? Is it becoming more difficult for you to maintain positive relationships in your life? If any of this is true for you, I would love the opportunity to help you resolve past traumas, learn to cope with unexpected loss or life changes, and explore the future.
In addition to my work with mood disorders and substance use, I have a passion for working with clients who are struggling with grief and loss. Grief is not a weakness. Grief is a normal response to an abnormal situation. A primary goal of grief counseling is helping clients integrate the reality of their loss into their lives moving forward and helping them to maintain a healthy bond to the loved one they lost. Having been personally impacted by the loss of significant people in my life, I have a deep understanding of the intense emotional impact of grief and loss. These emotions can overwhelm and even paralyze us as we attempt to make sense of our new reality. I can help you move through your grief in a healthy manner that reduces the emotional impact of your loss.
My clinical approach is client-centered and eclectic, including Motivational Interviewing, solution-focused, CBT, mindfulness, DBT (skills training), and strengths-based approaches. The most important factor in therapeutic outcomes is the relationship with your therapist. It is important to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship that provides an atmosphere for personal exploration, growth, and recovery. I am passionate about getting to fully understand your internal experience and assist you in recognizing your innate ability to create an empowered and authentic life. Are you ready to start unloading that baggage?
