Michelle Chevallier LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hi, I’m Michelle Chevallier (pronounced [shuh-vahl-yay] and if you’re wondering, yes, my last name is French and I’m originally from Louisiana.

As a child, (and even prior to knowing what a social worker was outside of what was portrayed on TV) I had a strong desire to fight against injustice and be of help to others. I was the first in my family to earn a graduate degree and culturally understand how hard it can be to seek out formal therapy. While it was sometimes challenging, I consider myself fortunate to have experienced formative years of my life in both rural and urban settings. This led me to appreciating the uniqueness of other communities and cultures while also recognizing our shared humanness.

I have 15+ years’ experience in medical social work serving needs of diverse populations in remote, hospital, home, and long-term care facility settings. I believe every individual possesses the innate ability to heal, grow, and transform; sometimes it just helps being reminded of our capabilities.

I have experience in treating grief, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I utilize various therapeutic techniques including but not limited to cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, motivational interviewing, bibliotherapy, journaling, and mindfulness exercises. I am also skilled in having in-depth conversations surrounding an individual’s values in relation to end-of-life care planning and can assist with detailed medical directives, so my client and their loved ones are better prepared to navigate difficult situations, if needed.

I consider it an honor to walk beside clients in their healing journey and I offer both in person and telehealth sessions to meet my client’s unique needs.
