Dr. Chinh Trieu-Keele

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Certifications and/or training: Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®️

I come from a culture that does not believe in the existence of mental illness. I was taught growing up that people shouldn’t talk about their feelings and that showing emotions was a sign of weakness. As a therapist, my hope is not only to help end the stigma associated with mental illness but also to normalize it. We all have experienced grief, bouts of depression, anxiety, and other emotional disturbances, but not everyone discusses it. It takes a lot of courage to come to therapy because it means you will have to be vulnerable and emotionally exposed. It is important to find that safe place, healthy outlet, share, experience, and grow.

I received a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, specializing in mental health. Additionally, I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Studies. I have 10+ years of experience in mental health, working in psychiatric hospitals and outpatient centers. I have worked clinically with individuals and families in a group setting. Regarding dispensing therapy, I primarily use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I come from a strengths-based perspective. I believe that everyone has within them the unique ability to make positive changes for the better. The desire just has to be there.

Others have told me that I am genuine, empathetic, and nonjudgmental. The people closest to me have told me I have the biggest heart and am always willing to listen and help. I would love to be the therapist to help you navigate your emotions and find stable footing.
