“There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm.” — Willa Cather
In Nature, as in life, there are moments of peaceful energy that bring a feeling of stability and happiness. But this energy will inevitably shift to unsteadiness and helplessness. As a traveler on this Earth, I have joyfully accepted the lessons during the calm, and have struggled to learn during the storm. As a therapist, I have used what I’ve learned to connect with my clients.
My role as a therapist is to accept my client unconditionally and provide the safety and support needed to explore all the possibilities together. Only my client can decide what the solution is and when it has been found. I am merely the helpful companion who has been given the honor of joining my client on his or her journey.
During my 20+ years of therapeutic experience, I have journeyed with children as young as 3 and adults as old as 92. I have walked with those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual and domestic abuse, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, ADD/ADHD, divorce, family dynamic, and the burdens of day-to-day stressors.
So, if you find yourself in a storm, therapy will help you to find the lessons needed to live a more balanced and peaceful life.
