I knew becoming a Professional Counselor was my calling back in 2006 when I interned with Harris County Juvenile Detention Center as a Psychological Staff Therapist. Many of the youth were in need of a caring Counselor who understood what they were going through and wanted to listen to their concerns. That’s just the beginning of my clinical experience in working to help others in need. I have worked at the Texas Department of Family Protective Services as a Family Based Caseworker, Fort-bend County Juvenile Detention Center as a Therapist, and in the private practice sector as a Contract Therapist.
I have extensive experience working with “troubled” youth in the areas of: conflict resolution, decision-making skills, depression, drug prevention, drop-out prevention, anger, stress, relationship issues and more. I utilize my skills daily to help today’s youth understand that advanced education is the key to success in life. My people skills and positive interactions allow for the ability to build a rapport with my clients, which gives them great ease in opening up in a therapeutic setting.
I have a strong passion in working with individuals of all ages to encourage and build their self-esteem. Some individuals don’t believe counseling works; I believe you get out of it what you put into it! Be prepared to work with someone who demonstrates high professional and ethical standards with effective verbal and written communication skills.
If you are ready and willing to get your life back on track, in need of a push in the right direction, or just needing professional assistance to get over the hump that has you stopped in your tracks, counseling is your next step.
